This CD was originally listed for release by Sony/Columbia on 8 March 2004,
then put back to 5 April or 12 April;
those dates came and went but no stock was ever available;
The cover originally shown on HMV.co.uk used the same photo as the
1989 "The Womble's Greatest Hits" LP,
with the addition of hand-drawn yellow stars and a cartoon-style title.
However, the image is reversed so that the four Wombles are kicking their
left legs in the air, rather than their right legs!
The cover finally used is shown above. |

Fairy tale of New York*
(an Irish folk style ballad by Jem Finer / Shane MacGowan)**
On December 22, 2005, The Pogues performed the song on a Jonathan Ross
Christmas special on BBC One in the UK,
with the female vocals taken by singer Katie Melua.
This was The Pogues' first television performance of the song since 1988.
The Pogues will be donating proceeds from the record to the homeless charity
Crisis At Christmas and the
Justice For Kirsty Campaign.
Set up by the late singer's mother Jean, the fund has enabled the family
to fight the long legal battle for justice following the tragic death
of their daughter (Kirsty MacColl),
killed by a powerboat whilst on holiday with her children.
No person has been made accountable to the satisfaction of her family and friends.
* first released in 1987 by The Pogues feat. Kirsty MacColl, released on The Pogues' album
"If I Should Fall From Grace with God" (1987).
Kirsty MacColl, singer-songwriter, *10 October, 1959 Croydon, South London;
† December 18, 2000 near Cozumel, Mexico.
** "Fairytale of New York" reportedly takes its name from a book, A

#DVD# Katie Melua // Concert Under The Sea // [Dramatico - DRAMDVD0004]
The Documentary Film was shot in and off the coast of Norway, and tells the
story of Katie setting the Guinness World Record for the deepest underwater
concert ever performed, 303 metres below the sea. Invited by Statoil, the
gas drilling company, to celebrate their 10th anniversary on the biggest
man-made structure ever moved on Earth, Katie (after checking their
environmental record) agreed to perform on the North Sea floor at the foot
of a leg of the enormous drilling platform.
The story of Katie and her band's rigorous safety training, and the
realisation of the dream of the gas platform manager who conceived the whole
crazy idea, is the subject of this fascinating film. Towards the end of the
film we witness some of the concert itself.
Extras:
Katie: The next steps (30 minutes)
Additional to the film of Katie’s undersea concert is a new interview
describing the adventure, and containing previously unreleased footage of
her on tour and from her daily life.
‘It's Only Pain’ - The video. (Plus photo montage)
The previously unavailable promotional video of ‘It's Only Pain’, shot at
the derelict theatre at Alexandra Palace, together with a beautiful montage
of shots taken by renowned photographer Jo de Banzie during the making of’ the film.

„After 40 years in the industry, this could either be seen as a service to
fans or the biggest ego trip on Earth. In fact it is a combination of the
two. There is some vanity in the release of any record by any artist at any
level, but as we all grow a little older, it is sometimes nice to collect
our work into an accessible archive, and this really is the purpose of the
exercise. It's been a lot of fun putting it together. I have added new
sleeve notes to accompany each album and I've been totally honest about how
artistically successful or otherwise I consider each album or track to have
been. I have even included "Summertime City" which at the time of making I
found completely cringe worthy, but which I now look back upon as a kitch
signpost along the road of my career.“ - Mike Batt

single release of
'Better Than a Dream' and the track included on Music Cube are actually two
completely different pieces of music despite sharing the same name. - Thanks
